Lodi Local Spotlight: Chalkboard Cafe

October 21, 2009

Chalkboard Cafe is a lovely little nook found on Lockeford Street and California Street in Lodi. This tiny little joint has loads of amazing flavor, combining classic favorites with more interesting tastes. This is definitely my new favorite breakfast place, although they serve lunch daily and dinner once a month.

Last weekend, Kyle and I strolled in around 11am to have brunch on a Saturday. We enjoyed amazing delicious chocolate banana bread french toast (YUMMM!!) for about 7 bucks as well as a savory croissant sandwich with eggs, Canadian bacon and cheddar cheese served with some kind of orange marmalade to put on the sandwich (sounds strange, but the flavors were so well mixed that it totally worked) for about another 7 bucks. Service was great, and the place is decorated so incredibly adorably! It’s called Chalkboard Cafe because of the daily specials that change written on the chalkboard.

They also have started doing a dinner every month (usually the 2nd Saturday) at 7pm. It’s a prix fixe menu for around $30 and includes five courses. Beverages are not included. We have yet to try this but it looks amazing!!

Check out this special place for an intimate meal with family or friends!
